Menstrual Equity 101

Anything and everything měi-nstruation.

What is the history of menstrual equity?

Menstrual equity has been a recurring civil issue for the past century and has been at the forefront of intersectional feminist campaigns and protests.

Though we've made much progress in the past few decades in terms of destigmatizing period and expanding menstrual health, we still have a ways to go in ensuring that everyone who menstruates has basic access to a pad or tampon.

How does měi help?

MÄšI was founded in 2025 as a response to the lack information, acceptance, and accessibility when it comes to menstrual cycles. Since then, we have made it our mission to break down barriers—whether legal, financial, or cultural—that prevent individuals from understanding and caring for their own bodies.

The a-měi-zing timeline
of menstrual equity

1550 BCE

The Papyrus Ebers; one of the oldest printed medical documents, found in Egypt, detailed the first written account of a tool used to aid menstrual bleeding. Made using papyrus plant fibers, this document showed the earliest evidence of a tampon-like product used by civilization to address menstrual bleeding.
