Joi Ysabella Carla Salvino
Executive Director of Legislation
Joi Ysabella Carla Salvino is an interdisciplinary youth advocate and artist dedicated to uplifting marginalized people and promoting universal rights and freedoms. Ysabella believes that humanity can harness the power of knowledge and compassion to make a lasting impact on the world. Her work is deeply shaped by storytelling, art, and activism. She actively operates at the intersection of law, media, and equity.
Ysabella is committed to using her voice to raise awareness about gender equality, animal rights, menstrual equity, civic engagement, and literacy. She has worked with the United Nations Association of Canada, Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Institute for Citizens & Scholars, Association of Municipalities of Ontario, Internationally Trained Lawyers Network, and France-Canada Chamber of Commerce. In 2025, she was named as 1 of 500 recipients of the Carnegie Young Leaders for Civic Preparedness Award.
As Executive Director of Legislation at MĚI, she leads international efforts in policy reform and legislative advocacy to advance structural and systemic change in women’s health. In addition, Ysabella serves as Product Manager for MĚI’s children’s book initiative and is the author of several medical and legal research papers. Most notably, she worked as an analyst and writer for MĚI’s mixed-methods study examining the relationship between Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and Endometriosis.
In her free time, Ysabella enjoys travelling, reading nonfiction, exploring philosophy, and spending time with her pet dogs! She is eager to contribute her knowledge and unwavering commitment to humanity in pursuit of justice across policy, practice, and power.
