Jia is a political science student at Michigan State University with a focus on the intersection of policy, education, and research. She currently serves on the board of trustees for the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, a philanthropic organization dedicated to funding programs for youth. Jia founded the Political Telegram, an organization that publishes articles for youth, written by youth. 

Jia is dedicated to making positive change through legislation and policy that aid women and youth.
