Afia Mubashir is a youth advocate focused on women’s rights, responsible technology, and youth led policy making. Her work centers on translating policy research into actionable frameworks that shape real outcomes.
She has conducted policy research at institutions including USC and UC Irvine, with work spanning climate data policy, healthcare affordability, EdTech integration, and the implications of artificial intelligence on international trade. She has also written healthcare and affordability policies for local assembly campaigns, which have been featured on billboards throughout her district. Her research on international trade policies regarding AI and emerging technologies has been published on SSRN.
Afia has advocated for youth inclusion in governance at the United Nations at events like SOCHUM Youth Event convened by the Chair of the Third Committee of the UNGA through her role as Deputy Director of Whitestone Legislative Advocacy, a youth-led nonprofit that has contributed to policy papers for the Republic of Korea and has been specially accredited to the the World Bank.
As Chief Operating Officer of MĚI, she has led organizational structuring, partnerships, and policy implementation while advancing female led innovation. In 2025, she served as one of the youngest startup founding team members of one of 30 invite only startups which were featured at Princeton University’s FEMALEFOUNDED Conference. Above all, Afia approaches policy as a tool for tangible and inclusive change, grounded in the belief that governance must be deliberately designed to serve those most often excluded from it.
