The Texas Menstrual Equity in Schools Act

Purpose

The goal of this bill is to mandate all public schools across the state of Texas to provide free and accessible menstrual products to students.

Requirements

All public schools and charter schools throughout Texas must provide free menstrual products throughout restrooms for grades 5-12
These items should be stocked regularly in the bathrooms.
There should be at least one dispenser available per girl’s restroom and gender-neutral bathrooms.

Funding

Funding for these products should be available through district-level funding (Board of Educations).

This bill shall be effective at the start of the academic school year.
